Name: Laird Stromvauld

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Bestows Quest(s): Stromvauld's Mine

Location: Anvilfire Inn

Anvilfire Inn[edit]

If you try to talk to him while at level 4 or lower, he will reply:

  • Laird Stromvauld: Hail there, <class>. If adventure is why you've come here, that I'd recommend you try the ale. I doesn't get any more adventuresome than that!

If you are at level 5 or higher, however, he will reply:

  • Laird Stromvauld: Well met, traveler! I am the famed jewel merchant Laird Stromvauld.
  • You: Famed? I've never heard of you before.
  • Laird Stromvauld: Really? I'm one of the wealthiest people in this here city. My influence is known by all. You must be new here - but never mind that. An adventurer is what I am in the market for at the moment. How would you like to do some work for me?
  • You: I might be interested. Depends on the kind of work you need done.
  • Laird Stromvauld: Well, I've got a mine that's just recently opened up not far from here. I'd hoped it might yield some ore and possibly some rare jewels. It was supposed to be a low-risk endeavor and initially, I wasn't too concerned with the outcome. As it turns out, the risk has been higher than I could have imagined.
  • You: Something happen in the mine?
  • Laird Stromvauld: We're not entirely sure. We'd been sending teams into the mine in rotating shifts. We worked like that for several weeks until one team didn't come back. We weren't sure what could have happened to them. There's always the chance of a cave in or other risks involved with mine operations. We sent in a second team to check on the first - to find some clues in the very least.
  • You: What did the second team find?
  • Laird Stromvauld: The second team never made it back either. Now, nobody is willing to go down there. I have no problems closing the mine, but I'm more concerned about my engineers. I'd like to know what became of them. If they're alive down there... well, surely you can understand my concern.
  • You: Understood. I'll go check it out. We'll talk again upon my return. (Bestow quest)
  • Laird Stromvauld: Thank you, <name>. Thank you.

Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make he say:

  • Laird Stromvauld: How fares the search, <name>? Have you had any luck locating all of my guys?
  • You: I'm still looking. I'm ready to head back down there.

On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:

  • Laird Stromvauld: I'd hoped against hope that you'd not return alone. Were all the engineers lost in the mine?
  • You: We managed to rescue one of them. The drow we encountered were holding him captive.
  • Laird Stromvauld: Drow? Well, at least one life was saved and for that, you have my gratitude. Now, I must ponder a way to turn this loss into a profit. Once again, thank you my friend.

After completing the quest and take the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:

  • Laird Stromvauld: Hail there, <class>. If adventure is why you've come here, then I'd recommend you try the ale. I doesn't get any more adventuresome than that!
