Description

While you are enchanted with Holy Sword, any weapons in your hands gain +1 to their Enhancement bonus and +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range and Critical Damage Multiplier. This does not apply to shields, orbs, or Rune Arms.

Post-Update 28 Patch 1, Holy Sword no longer affects shields, orbs, or Rune Arms, but does affect off-handed weapons.

Holy Sword stacks with other temporary item enchantments provided by friendly Artificer spells, like Enchant Weapons.

Bug: The icon indicating an active spell may continue through a rest or quest start, but you must un-equip and then re-equip your weapons to gain the benefits again.

History

Before U23 this spell required a material component - (Anointed Cold Iron Weapon) and would create a Minimum Level 10, +5 Holy Burst Cold Iron Silver Byeshk weapon that granted its wielder a continuous Protection from Evil effect while equipped. The holy weapon was permanent, but was destroyed if the user logged out for more than a few minutes. (About 15 minutes.) The holy weapon was Bound to CharacterIcon tooltip.pngBound to Character: This item is Bound to Character, and class-restricted to Paladin with no UMD bypass possible. The weapons made with this spell, could not be stored in a bank/shared bank. However, they WOULD stay and NOT expire inside of a True Reincarnation cache, so you could make a pile and use them in your next Paladin life once you get to level 10.

Prior to U23, this spell could not be cast in a public area, and you could replace the spell slot with something else at a shrine in the quest as the holy weapon would last until you log out. Post-U23, this is not the case; the spell can now be cast is a public area, but will not last through entering a quest, using a shrine or death and, as described, will expire after one minute times the level of the paladin.

The Holy Sword is most useful for fighting the raid bosses Queen Lailat, Arraetrikos and Suulomades.

The House Jorasco Divine Reagent Vendor (Alamere Evilbane in Feather's Fall Apothecary) carries Anointed Cold Iron Greatswords, Bastard swords, Longswords, Shortswords, Scimitars, Warhammers, Rapiers, Dwarven axes, Khopeshes, Mauls, and Heavy picks. A common technique was to purchase the ingredients with another character and mail them to your Paladin, so you can retrieve them from a mailbox when you need to cast Holy Sword, instead of going all the way to the divine reagent vendor.
