This guide will provide you with a set of instructions with which you can get your map from DDO uploaded to DDO wiki and published correctly with minimal effort.

Create, edit, save, and upload[edit]

Create[edit]

  1. In DDO display the map on your screen that you wish to publish on DDO wiki.
    • This is by default done by pressing M - you may have changed this in the key mapping settings.
  2. Hold down Ctrl+P — A screenshot is now saved on your computer.

Edit[edit]

  1. Open MS Paint (found in Start>Programs>Accessories). (Alt+Tab to switch to programs)
    • MS Paint is more than sufficient for editing maps - more advanced programs are not required.
  2. With MS Paint open hold down Ctrl+V - this pastes in your image ready for editing.
  3. Edit the image as required
    • If you are dealing with an image which is too large take extra care to merge the images.
      • Holding down Ctrl and scrolling down on your mouse will reduce the image view for ease of editing.
      • be sure to create space for inclusion of the map legend (see below).

Save[edit]

Save the file to a memorable location once finished in one of these file formats:

  • .png
  • .jpg

Upload[edit]

  • Use Upload file
    1. Choose Upload file and then browse your computer for the file you saved earlier.
    2. Follow the image policy to specify the "Destination filename".
    3. Choose Upload file.
  • or Upload a new version of a file already on DDO wiki by visiting that file's page.
  • Now go to the page where you wish your map to be used.
    • e.g. Durk's Got A Secret - here you'll find the map has been used within the template at the top of the page.
    • You'll be required to either amend this filename or file type as required in order to make the map/file function correctly.

You'll find a full explanation about all the icons to use on your maps on the Maps Legend page, be sure to fully read about what you are intending to do before proceeding.
