If you try to talk to him while at level 8^{[Unverified"8" has not been verified in-game. Please verify it!]} or lower, he will reply:

If you are at level 9 or higher, however, he will reply:

• Guard Branson: You there! Quickly, grab your weapons, we need your services at once!
  • You: Whoa, calm down! What's going on?
• Guard Branson: Xorian Outsiders have invaded the sewers!
  They've opened up portals down there and are massing in numbers. They're preparing an assault on Stormreach, and the Guard doesn't have the ability to take care of it ourselves. Will you go down through the Waterworks Side Entrance and stop them?
  • You: I shall go at once. (Bestow quest)
  • You: I need to know more about these Xorian Outsiders before I help,
    • Guard Branson: Our intelligence on them is spotty. Xoriat is one of the outer planes -- the home of Beholders and Flesh Renders.
      The Beholders are especially dangerous. They've got eleven eyes, and each one shoots out a powerful attack! Get behind it if you want to avoid having all of your magic nullified by the anti-magic field on its central eye. And for the Flame's sake, don't get hit by its Energy Drain eyebeam!
      The Twelve could probably tell you more about them than I, but I do know for certain that if we let the Xorians stay in the sewers, they'll destroy Stormreach!
      • You: These Xorians must be stopped. I shall go at once. (Bestow quest)

Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, will make him say:

• Guard Branson: The sewer hole next to me will take you into Waterworks Side Entrance.

On completion of quest, he will congratulate you with the following:

• Guard Branson: The invaders were turned back thanks to you, <name>. Stormreach is safe!
  I'll remain here should more troubles arise, but at least I know I can call on your help.

After completing the quest and taking the reward, if you talk to him again, he will reply:

• Guard Branson: The invaders were turned back thanks to you, <name>. Stormreach is safe!
