The Mindsunder

The Mindsunder is the 3rd quest in The Path of Inspiration story arcIcon tooltip.pngStory arcs  are chains of quests that make up a story line.
Completing everything in a story arc often yields a nice reward.

Finding the Path • I Dream of Jeets • The Mindsunder

The Path of Inspiration is the official religion of Dar Qat. Some say it's just an arm of Dalr Qat's state, sent to conquer with brainwashing rather than swords.

Overview

Jeets Shimis told you that there is an artifact called the Mindsunder hidden inside the Dar Qat Trade Mission. The Path of Inspiration is using the Mindsunder to magically convert Stormreach's citizens into mindless followers, a process that will take only a few days.

To stop their plans you must enter the Dar Qat Trade Mission in the Inspired Quarter and destroy the Mindsunder. Jeets urged you to use caution when entering the Trade Mission.

Objectives

What to Expect

  • Multiple quest entrances (2)
  • Secret doors (one required) which must be found and opened to continue the quest: Secret Door DCs
  • Spawning/respawning monsters (end room only)

Tips and Misc

  • This quest has two entrances. Using the "hidden" one makes the first fight easier, usually.
    • To find the hidden entrance, go due east from the Stormreach Teleporter and drop down, stay right.
  • Useful elemental resists: All except sonic, although a couple monsters can deal some small sonic damage
  • This is basically a straight-line quest. Hack-and-slash your way through, or spellcast through. This quest features two shrines but fairly high-hitpoint, low-save enemies. Thus a necromancy spec'd caster can make very quick work of this quest, making it a very good XP and loot run.
  • The Southern secret door is (required) to be found and opened to complete the quest (Secret door DC).
  • During the final boss fight, kill Torkaar, and then just have one person kite the Dream Reavers and Scourges out of the end room, as they continuously respawn at a fast rate as soon as they are killed. So there is no point killing them unless you need a couple more kills for conquest, which you generally won't since this quest features a fair amount of kills on the way.
  • Destroying the Mindsunder will end the quest if Torkaar is already dead, and he should be at this point as he is a big threat that should be dealt with quickly.
    • The Mindsunder is immune to sonic and electrical damage (relevant if Spellsinger Bard) and perhaps other elements. Dream creatures will continue to spawn until the Mindsunder's sizeable health is depleted.

Bonus XP

  • Aggression bonus: 40 or more monsters killed +10% Bonus.( ♣221 ♦383 ♥396 ♠410 )
  • Onslaught bonus: 52 or more monsters killed +15% Bonus.( ♣332 ♦574 ♥595 ♠615 )
  • Conquest bonus: 64 or more monsters killed +25% Bonus.( ♣553 ♦957 ♥991 ♠1,026 )
  • Observance bonus: 1 or more secret door discovered +8% Bonus.( ♣177 ♦306 ♥317 ♠328 )

Loot

  • Chests: 4
  • NPC rewards: Special:
    • Regular runs: Standard, plus a random random shard/disc
    • Every 3rd completion: 14 items: 10 either being random loot or a named item from the list below and a disc of each color. Also note end rewards are pulled from the elite version of the quest's loot table, thus you have a better chance of getting the good mutations of the Dream Edge.
      • Note: Because of this third completion reward list containing possibly multiple named loots to choose from and because you do not have to flag to rerun The Mindsunder it is probably faster to just run Mindsunder itself for the 3x completions instead of running all the quests to get discs. Quickly running on normal can take less than 15 minutes.
