Apparently, hidden cats aren't really all that hidden.. They are going into the C: structure as they should, but they are not being hidden from users that do not have the over-ride checked.. I am writing an email to Xevo (Contribs • Message • Email) to look into this issue. ShoeMaker 01:46, March 11, 2012 (EST)
Yes, like I said, wasn't making it up... I tested it throughly and compared it to how it works on wikpedia, and implemented it exactly the same here, works there and not here.
Does look like xevo fixed the undelete function for us tho which is nice. Just undeleted the template.. Per wikipedias help pages that is the prefered method to use it, and should be funcitional once xevo figures out whats wrong. Either way, you can type it if u prefer, that might save some server cycles (less transcluding is good).. But no need to delete it for those who might want it in the future.

- I tested it as an anon user, and only that funky blue box wasn't hiding the hiddencats... So, I think it is good to use hiddencat for now, and I sent Xevo (Contribs • Message • Email) a request to look into it last night along with a nudge to take another peek as to why we can't undelete as we should be able to. um u read my post? We can undelete now, I just did and it worked fine. Maybe it doesnt work on older pages, not tested, but does on recent ones. re: just a display bug? The whole purpose of hiddencat. is to um. hide the categories. If they don't get hidden.. It's not "just a" anything.. It broken. Shade 21:15, March 11, 2012 (EDT)
- Yes, the undelete thing was a switch Xevo forgot to hit when he upgraded the system. Hiddencat actually is working with the default wiki category list.. It's just not working well with a secondary list Xevo installed as an extension and he is looking into it and if he can not figure it out, he will just remove the extension. So, we should use hiddencat as if it does work. ShoeMaker 22:25, March 11, 2012 (EDT)
