Archer Point Defense[edit]

Carrack can be seen inside the fortress, and if you talk to him, he will tell:

  • Carrack the Restless: That double-crossing, triple-faced fool! That prancing peacock! That strutting simpleton! I'll throttle Jasper for this, I swear I will.
  • You: What's the trouble?
  • Carrack the Restless: The trouble? You're the trouble, mate. No offense. I'm sure you're not fully aware of the mess you've been dragged into. But we're all in a scrape, and it's Jasper's fault, plain and simple. That greedy son of a bugbear....
  • You: Why are you so angry at Jasper?
  • Carrack the Restless: because we had a deal! I've been stopping at Archer point for years now. It's not much of a place, but it's got four walls and fresh water—and Jasper's boys have always kept the hobgoblins off my trail. But now they're away on some fool mission, and the roads aren't being patrolled. I lost a wagon on the way in! And I'll lose more on the way out, if the hobgoblins aren't stopped!
  • You: How many are there?
  • Carrack the Restless: At least fifty. Maybe more. It's not a whole tribe, but it's close, and there are ogres in the mix. I'm not going to lie, it's a nasty fix we're in. If you're hot for a fight, you'll see plenty of action today. If you're not, get into Archer Point's keep and stay safe! The hobs aren't strong enough for a siege. They'll just take my wagon and run away.
  • You: You're not worried about your wagon?
  • Carrack the Restless: Of course I am! But my losses are between me and Jasper. And I've kept you from your work long enough. Good luck in the battle, friend.
  • You: Prepare for the battle.
