Korthos Village

As soon as you arrive on the village, he say to you:

• Baldar the Bold: (The fisherman sitting before you winces as he bandages his leg.)
• You: What happened to you?
• Baldar the Bold: It was the Devourer cult.
• Baldar the Bold: They came and destroyed our Cannith Crystals. We tried to stop them... Vogel here was hit pretty bad, and I think I broke my ankle. But we got away with one crystal. Just one.
• Baldar the Bold: We put it in the basement of Korthos Hall. They'll come back for it tonight, and we're in no shape to stop them.
  • You: I think it's time this Cult was given a taste of its own medicine. I'll protect this crystal for you. (Bestow quest)
    • Baldar the Bold: Praise the Silver Flame! Please, protect the crystal!
  • You: Why is this Cannith Crystal so important?
    • Baldar the Bold: These crystals were holding back all this unnatural ice. With the one remaining, we might still be able to stave off the cold. But without it, Korthos will freeze over within a week.
      • You: I think it's time this Cult was given a taste of its own medicine. I'll protect this crystal for you. (Bestow quest)
      • You: Come to mention it, aren't the islands of Shargon's Teeth supposed to be warm? Where's this ice coming from?
        • Baldar the Bold: Pah, it's the dragon that's freezing the island over—may she be thrice blighted!
        • Baldar the Bold: She's blockaded the harbor, and froze us all into the Ninth Hell. Nobody knows why she's helping the Sahuagin and the Cult, but I swear, if something isn't done, we're all in big trouble.
          • You: I think it's time this Cult was given a taste of its own medicine. I'll protect this crystal for you. (Bestow quest)
      • You: Can't you just get more crystals?
        • Baldar the Bold: we found them in the abandoned Cannith Manufactury, now far from the village. There's no more there, and it ain't like we can send off the House Cannith for more.
          • You: I think it's time this Cult was given a taste of its own medicine. I'll protect this crystal for you. (Bestow quest)
  • You: What's this Devourer cult?
    • Baldar the Bold: The Devourer s one of the Dark Six, cast out of the Sovereign Host for their evil.
    • Baldar the Bold: The Sahuagin worship Him, sure, but the real trouble was when they started taking our people and brainwashing them into doing the same... and then the Dragon showed up.
      • You: I think it's time this Cult was given a taste of its own medicine. I'll protect this crystal for you. (Bestow quest)
      • You: What's this about a dragon?
        • Baldar the Bold: Pah, it's the dragon that's freezing the island over—may she be thrice blighted!

Talking to him after acquiring the quest, but before completion, he will say:

• Baldar the Bold: Please, protect the Cannith Crystal from the Devourer cult. We hid it in Korthos Hall. That's the prominent house in front of the pier.

On completion of quest, he will tell you with the following:

• Baldar the Bold: Is the crystal safe?
• You: Yes, the cultists came, as you said they would. And when they tried to destroy the crystal, I felled them. This village will remain warm. Well... warmish.

After you get your reward, if you talk to him again, he will say:

• Baldar the Bold: you certainly showed those cultists, <name>. I thank you.
• You: Is that it? is the cult defeated?
• Baldar the Bold: You struck a mighty blow against the Devourer cult, but I doubt they can be defeated while they still control that Dragon of theirs.
• Baldar the Bold: But with the crystal you saved, we might be able to hold the ice back until someone fiigures out how to get rid of the Dragon.
